Work to reinforce the slopes of cuts in the intervals km 737 + 700 - km 738 + 500, km 730 + 025 - km 730 + 650 (left, right), as well as slopes of the subgrade embankment in the flooded part on the approaches to the bridges across the Don and Bogucharka rivers were carried out between 2006 and 2009. The height of the slope reinforcement was 12 meters or more, the maximum steepness was 1:1.5. For reinforcing and anti-erosion protection of slopes, Geospan OR volumetric geogrids manufactured by Gexa - Nonwoven Materials were used (Geospan OR 30/20 in the amount of 14000 m² and Geospan OR 30/15 in the amount of 8000 m²). Needle-punched geotextile with a density of 400–500 g/m² was used as a substrate for Geospan OR, and granite crushed stone was used to fill the cells.

Based on the results of assessing the state of slopes, it can be concluded that it is expedient to use these geogrids to improve the reliability of anti-erosion protection and ensure the overall stability of highway slopes.
